Star architect, Frank Gehry and Theatre and Retail Entrepreneur David Mirvish plan to remake the Toronto Theatre District in a bold plan culminating in three towers 85 floors tall. The project is the dream of David Mirvish, an avid patron of the Canadian Arts scene.
"These towers can become a symbol of what Toronto can be,"
Mirvish told a news conference. "I'm not building condominiums.
I'm building sculptures for people to live in."
The base of the towers will be two 6 floor podiums that will provide gallery space, retail space, lecture halls and seminar rooms.
Two brand new museums will also be constructed as part of the redevelopment. One of the new museums will house the contemporary art collection of the Mirvish Family. All the lands of the redevelopment are owned by the Mirvish Family.
